Code of Conduct required for ECI (Election Commission of India)

Today, Mr. Rahul Bhartiya, President, Nav Bharat Jan Jaagran Manch while addressing media persons in the press conference at his home said that

Election commission of India has formed various codes of conducts for Political organizations, Politicians & other organizations for the efficient & effective results. These codes of conducts play a major role in attaining peace, non-violence, grip on any illegal activities to happen and most importantly a grip which works as a discipline factor to make everybody understand about rules, regulations, laws and a responsibility to be in limits.
It’s a great achievement that these codes of conducts are implemented in the system with strictness leading to effectiveness and a fear in minds that any rule broken will surely lead to bad name of Political Organization/politician in the society. Also, will somehow affect the results too.
It’s a matter of honor in Indian Society for a great step & initiate following strict norms, specially regular and effective monitoring, for which ECI surely deserves a “salute of respect”. Really a remarkable and outstanding job done by ECI.

But what about Indian Voters? What about conduct of ECI with Indian Voter? Don’t we need code of conduct for ECI also?

It has been very shameful for Indian democracy that in second phase of polling, 3 people died just because of high temperature when they went to polling booth for voting. Just today, on television, I was watching a polling booth in Lucknow at a very posh location where there was no arrangement of shed for relief from high temperature & heat and nevertheless no arrangement of cold drinking water for the voters if they feel thirsty.
One day comes once in 5 years, when lakhs of voters come out of their homes and go to polling booths for voting leading to formation of New Government. People who form government, if can’t be provided with basic facilities, then how can we expect them to vote in coming days when everybody is getting used to of luxuries and comfort.

Today, when common man even, don’t drive in car without air conditioner, don’t sleep in their bed rooms without a.c. or fan, don’t work at their work place without fan or a.c., in these conditions why a common man will come to polling booth in temperature of more than 40 degrees to vote, when they have to stand in queue for 1 to 5 hours or even more sometimes?
Same implies for rural class, farmers and other part of societies also.

We all keep on compelling educated people, corporate people and rich community people to participate in voting but why they will come for voting? Where are the basic facilities? How can they believe in the system till system believes in them? This is really a serious matter for which I request our Hon’ able ECI team to pay their kind attention at.

Also, I would like to propose for “Internet Polling” where anybody can just login to their account providing username and password given by ECI & after verifying their genuine identity they can Vote via Internet. Surely some modern and high tech methods are required to be adopted for bigger number participation by people in “Voting” from next time.

Regards
Rahul Bhartiya
